We don’t realise the value of something unless we lose it. The same is the case with our hair. Most people complain about how they don’t like the texture of their hair and how their hair growth is so slow without realising the fact that there are many people out there who don’t have hair. Let that sink in! There are tons of people out there who’re scared that they’ll go bald soon. If you’re one of those, you might understand what we’re trying to say.

If you’re suffering from excessive hair loss, hair thinning, pattern baldness, or alopecia, you might be desperate to find a way to not look bald. Well, we might have a solution to your problem.

Scalp micropigmentation.

What is it and how can it help with your hair emergency?

Understanding Scalp Micropigmentation

It’s a non-invasive technique whereby a pigment is deposited into the scalp using microneedles that gives your scalp a look that it has got small hair follicles over it. The result of scalp micropigmentation is a scalp that looks fuller.

If your hair has started to thin out or there are bald patches, or you’re completely bald, this technique can give you a close-cropped look.  The pigment that’s used on your scalp is made to match the natural colour and thickness of your hair follicle so that it doesn’t look artificial, thereby creating a delusion of stronger, thicker, and fuller hair.

Who Can Benefit from Scalp Micropigmentation?

Hair has a lot to do with one’s confidence. People who lose their hair for any reason whatsoever are often more conscious about their appearance than those who don’t have any hair problems. Scalp micropigmentation benefits both men and women equally.

You can benefit from this technique if you have:

  • Extreme hair loss and hair thinning
  • Receding Hairlines
  • Alopecia
  • Lost hair due to cancer chemotherapy
  • Hair loss due to scarring on the scalp

How Is It Done?

The procedure can take anywhere between 1 to 5 hours. It depends on the size of the area that needs to be covered. If you only require minor pigmentation, one session may be enough. However, if you’re looking for a more dramatic impact with scalp micropigmentation, you might require 2 to 3 sessions.

First, the artist matches the pigment with your hair’s natural colour and skin tone. Then they use a microneedle pen to inject the ink into the scalp.

One question that most scalp micropigmentation candidates ask is if it hurts. Well, it depends entirely on your pain tolerance. For some, it’s so painless that they fall asleep during the procedure. Others feel as if someone’s scratching their scalp.  The pigmented areas don’t usually bleed, but the redness of the skin is absolutely normal. To ensure there’s no bleeding during the procedure, the candidates are advised not to take any blood-thinning medications a day before their procedure is due. The amounts of pigment that are injected into the scalp are so small that if the injection site bleeds, the ink will flow out with it.

All in all, scalp micropigmentation is a painless procedure that can last for several years. If the tattoo starts to dim, you can also get a touch-up.
